Thermal Bond Nonwoven Fabric — Heat-Bonded Roll Material
Allzone Trading supplies thermal bond nonwoven fabric to converters and manufacturers in Ontario, Quebec and across Canada. The web is bonded by heat rather than by needling or a chemical binder, so the fabric is binder-free and its loft, softness and strength follow directly from the bonding method used. Basis weight, width, bonding method and colour are confirmed against supplier technical data at quotation.

Technical & procurement detail
What thermal bond nonwoven is+
The web is bonded by heat: fusible fibre or the lower-melting component of the web softens and welds the structure together. Nothing is added to the fabric, so the result is a binder-free material whose character — flat and strong, or lofty and soft — is set almost entirely by how the heat is applied.
Calendering, ultrasonic and through-air bonding+
Calendering presses the web between heated rolls, usually with an engraved pattern, giving a flatter, stronger, thinner fabric. Ultrasonic bonding applies energy at discrete points without a full heated nip, keeping more softness and allowing patterned bonding. Through-air bonding blows hot air through the web so it bonds without compression, which preserves loft and permeability. These are three different materials in practice, and the method belongs in the specification.
Polyester and blends+
Thermally bonded fabrics are produced from polyester and from blends including bicomponent fusible fibre. The blend determines what melts, how strong the bond is, and how the fabric recovers after compression. Loft-critical products such as comfort and filtration layers usually depend on both the blend and a through-air bonding route.
How specifications vary+
Fibre composition, basis weight, thickness and loft, bond pattern, tensile and elongation, air permeability, recovery after compression, colour and roll dimensions all vary with the manufacturing specification. No fixed technical values, ratings or approvals are published on this page.
What to include in your enquiry+
Send the basis weight, roll width, roll length, colour and quantity, together with the application. Where relevant, state whether loft or flatness matters more, which bonding method your process needs, the permeability or recovery you expect, and any downstream cutting, moulding or lamination step.
Documentation and specification+
Allzone confirms fibre composition, bonding method and basis weight with the supplier before quoting and shares technical data for the exact material offered. No flammability rating, approval or certification is assumed on this page.
Frequently asked questions
What is thermal bond nonwoven fabric used for?+
Mattress and furniture comfort layers, lofty filter and pre-filter media, automotive interior and acoustic layers, converted disposables, and cushioning or insulation layers.
What is the difference between calendered and through-air bonded?+
Calendering compresses the web into a flatter, stronger fabric; through-air bonding bonds without compression and preserves loft and permeability. Ultrasonic bonding sits between them and keeps softness.
Is it binder-free?+
Yes — the bond comes from heat and fusible fibre, not from an added chemical binder. Composition is confirmed against supplier technical data.
Which basis weight and loft should I specify?+
Both follow from the converted product and the process. Share the application and a suitable specification is confirmed with technical data.
What quantities are quoted?+
Quantities are reviewed per enquiry, from trial rolls through to full production programmes.
