Spunbond Polyester Nonwoven Fabric — Continuous Filament PET Roll Material

Molten polyester is spun into continuous filaments, drawn, laid onto a moving belt and bonded into a web. Because the filaments are continuous rather than cut staple, the fabric is strong for its weight and resists elongation, and because the polymer is polyester it survives higher process temperatures than polypropylene spunbond.

Point bonding welds the web at a regular pattern of discrete points, leaving the areas between the points softer and more permeable. Flat bonding consolidates the whole surface, giving a smoother, stiffer and more closed sheet. The two behave differently in coating, pleating, sewing and lamination, so the construction is part of the specification rather than a detail.

Roofing and membrane producers use it as a carrier that has to hold dimension through hot coating. Filtration converters use it as pleatable support behind a finer medium. Automotive and industrial converters use it as carrier, backing and reinforcement, and coating houses use it as a substrate for laminated and coated products.

Basis weight, width, tensile and elongation, thermal stability, air permeability, bonding pattern, colour and roll dimensions vary with the manufacturing specification. Coating, membrane and filtration performance depend on the finished construction, not on the substrate alone.
