Canadian climate demands tougher film additives
Canadian agricultural film fails earlier than equivalent film in milder climates because it endures three brutal stress profiles in a single year: deep winter cold cycling that embrittles polymers, summer UV intensity that scales with elevated solar angles at northern latitudes (especially in BC and Alberta), and large diurnal temperature swings that drive thermal cycling fatigue. A film additive package rated for 4 seasons in California will typically fail in 2 seasons in Niagara or the Fraser Valley.
Our greenhouse and tunnel masterbatch packages combine HALS (hindered amine light stabilizers) with secondary UV absorbers and antioxidants in ratios tuned to Canadian solar and temperature data. Field trials with Ontario greenhouse operators have validated 4-season life for our standard package and 5-season life for the heavy-duty package.
Greenhouse film: more than just UV
Modern greenhouse film does four things simultaneously: it lets visible light through for photosynthesis, blocks UV that degrades the polymer, holds infrared inside at night to reduce heating cost, and prevents condensate from dripping onto crops. Our greenhouse masterbatch system bundles UV stabilizer, IR absorber (typically a mineral filler like hydrotalcite or specially-grade calcium carbonate), and anti-drip surfactant in a single PE-carrier pellet for converter convenience.

Mulch film & silage wrap
Black mulch film for vegetable crops in Ontario, Quebec and BC requires high carbon-black dispersion to block weed-suppressing wavelengths. Our 40 % carbon black masterbatch achieves dispersion below 5 on the standard 0–10 scale, allowing converters to run thin (15–25 micron) mulch film without pinhole leaks.
Silage wrap, used to preserve fermented forage for dairy and beef operations, needs both UV resistance and oxygen barrier. Our white-on-black silage masterbatch system pairs a high-opacity white outer layer (UV reflection) with a black inner layer (light exclusion to prevent fermentation upset).

Our standard 5-season HALS package, when used at the recommended 1.5–2.5 % LDR in LDPE/LLDPE blends, has been validated for 4 full Canadian seasons in Ontario greenhouse trials. The heavy-duty package targets 5 seasons but is more expensive per kilo.
Do you supply anti-fog masterbatches for clear greenhouse film?
Yes. We supply both permanent anti-fog (surfactant migrating to the inner surface) and anti-drop systems (modifying surface tension so condensate forms a sheet, not droplets). Both are available in PE carrier.
Can you ship mulch film masterbatch to Quebec and BC?
Yes. LTL to Quebec is 1 day from our Ontario logistics partner; LTL to BC (Vancouver, Abbotsford, Delta) is 5–7 days. For BC customers with annual volume over 10 MT, we can land FCL directly at the Port of Vancouver.
