Rheology Modifier — Coatings & Adhesive Thickener
Rheology modifiers control how a coating or adhesive behaves at rest, under brush or spray shear, and immediately after application. Allzone supplies rheology modifier chemistries to Canadian coatings and adhesive formulators with the grade confirmed against supplier documentation.

Technical & procurement detail
Functional role of rheology modifier+
A coating has to be three different liquids at once: thick enough in the can to prevent settling, thin enough under application shear to spread, and thick again within seconds to stop sag. Rheology modifiers build the viscosity profile across that shear range instead of raising viscosity uniformly.
Selecting the right grade+
Associative, cellulosic, alkali-swellable and inorganic clay chemistries each shape a different part of the shear curve, and most industrial formulations use a combination. Application method, sag and levelling targets, spatter behaviour and open time drive the selection.
Documentation and specification+
Properties differ between producers and between grades of the same material. Allzone confirms the applicable grade with the supplier before quoting and shares the technical data sheet and safety data sheet for the exact material offered, so the values you evaluate are the values you receive.
Frequently asked questions
Can one rheology modifier cover the whole shear range?+
Rarely. Low-shear anti-sag behaviour and mid-shear application behaviour usually need different chemistries, so formulators combine them. Share the application method and defect being solved and the supplier will propose the combination.
Which grade will I be quoted?+
The grade is set by your specification. Share the target performance, process conditions and any customer or regulatory requirement in the RFQ and the matching grade is confirmed with the supplier before quotation.
What packaging is available?+
Packaging is confirmed with the supplier at quotation for the grade and quantity discussed.
Can you deliver across Ontario and Quebec?+
Yes. LTL and FTL freight is arranged across Ontario, Quebec and Western Canada, with container-direct supply for repeat volumes.
