Reactive Diluent — Epoxy Viscosity Modifier

Reactive diluents lower the viscosity of an epoxy system while reacting into the cured network, unlike a solvent that must evaporate. Allzone supplies reactive diluent chemistries to Canadian formulators with the grade confirmed against supplier documentation.

Functional role of reactive diluent+

Because the diluent carries its own epoxy functionality, it becomes part of the crosslinked polymer rather than leaving the film. That allows high-solids and solvent-free formulations to reach workable viscosity for spraying, casting or wetting reinforcement without the VOC and shrinkage penalty of a solvent.

Selecting the right grade+

Functionality is the key variable: monofunctional diluents cut viscosity most efficiently but reduce crosslink density, while di- and trifunctional grades preserve more cured properties at less viscosity reduction. Target viscosity, required properties and any regulatory limit determine the grade quoted.

Documentation and specification+

Properties differ between producers and between grades of the same material. Allzone confirms the applicable grade with the supplier before quoting and shares the technical data sheet and safety data sheet for the exact material offered, so the values you evaluate are the values you receive.

Frequently asked questions

Does a reactive diluent weaken the cured epoxy?+

Monofunctional grades reduce crosslink density and can lower chemical resistance and heat performance; multifunctional grades preserve more of it. The dose and functionality are chosen against the properties you must keep.

Which grade will I be quoted?+

The grade is set by your specification. Share the target performance, process conditions and any customer or regulatory requirement in the RFQ and the matching grade is confirmed with the supplier before quotation.

What packaging is available?+

Packaging is confirmed with the supplier at quotation for the grade and quantity discussed.

Can you deliver across Ontario and Quebec?+

Yes. LTL and FTL freight is arranged across Ontario, Quebec and Western Canada, with container-direct supply for repeat volumes.
