Technical & procurement detail

Functional role of c5 hydrocarbon resin+

A tackifier does not bond by itself: it lowers the base polymer's modulus at service temperature and shifts its glass transition, so the adhesive becomes tacky and wets the substrate. C5 resins pair well with aliphatic polymers such as SIS and EVA, which is why they dominate general purpose adhesive formulation.

Selecting the right grade+

Softening point is the primary selection variable, together with colour, molecular weight distribution and any hydrogenation. Base polymer compatibility, service temperature, colour requirement and thermal stability during hot-melt processing determine the grade quoted.

Documentation and specification+

Properties differ between producers and between grades of the same material. Allzone confirms the applicable grade with the supplier before quoting and shares the technical data sheet and safety data sheet for the exact material offered, so the values you evaluate are the values you receive.

Frequently asked questions

How does C5 resin differ from C9 resin?+

C5 resins are aliphatic and compatible with aliphatic polymers such as SIS and EVA, giving tack. C9 resins are aromatic, harder, darker and used more for compatibility with aromatic systems, hardness and rubber or coating duty.

Which grade will I be quoted?+

The grade is set by your specification. Share the target performance, process conditions and any customer or regulatory requirement in the RFQ and the matching grade is confirmed with the supplier before quotation.

What packaging is available?+

Packaging is confirmed with the supplier at quotation for the grade and quantity discussed.

Can you deliver across Ontario and Quebec?+

Yes. LTL and FTL freight is arranged across Ontario, Quebec and Western Canada, with container-direct supply for repeat volumes.
