Technical & procurement detail
Functional role of polyethylene wax+
PE wax reduces friction between the polymer melt and metal surfaces, and wets pigment and filler surfaces so they disperse at lower shear. In PVC compounding it controls plate-out and output; in masterbatch it raises pigment loading; in hot-melts and coatings it modifies viscosity and adds surface slip and rub resistance.
Selecting the right grade+
Molecular weight, drop point, viscosity, density and whether the wax is homopolymer or oxidised determine lubrication behaviour and pigment compatibility — oxidised grades are more polar and disperse polar pigments better. Process and polymer system determine what is quoted.
Documentation and specification+
Properties differ between producers and between grades of the same material. Allzone confirms the applicable grade with the supplier before quoting and shares the technical data sheet and safety data sheet for the exact material offered, so the values you evaluate are the values you receive.
Frequently asked questions
What does oxidised PE wax do differently?+
Oxidation adds polar groups, improving compatibility with polar pigments, fillers and emulsion systems. Non-oxidised grades remain the choice for straightforward external lubrication in polyolefin and PVC processing.
Which grade will I be quoted?+
The grade is set by your specification. Share the target performance, process conditions and any customer or regulatory requirement in the RFQ and the matching grade is confirmed with the supplier before quotation.
What packaging is available?+
Packaging is confirmed with the supplier at quotation for the grade and quantity discussed.
Can you deliver across Ontario and Quebec?+
Yes. LTL and FTL freight is arranged across Ontario, Quebec and Western Canada, with container-direct supply for repeat volumes.
