Recycled Glass Aggregate — Decorative Terrazzo and Concrete Chip

Allzone Trading supplies crushed recycled glass aggregate to terrazzo installers, decorative concrete producers, countertop fabricators and architectural precast plants across Canada. Glass aggregate delivers colours that natural stone cannot, and it also contributes recycled content where a project specification requires it. Colour, size grading and processing (crushed or tumbled) are confirmed against samples at quotation.

Technical & procurement detail

Colours cement cannot produce+

Cobalt blues, emeralds, ambers and mirrored effects come from glass rather than pigment, and they hold their intensity because the colour is in the aggregate rather than in the paste. That is why glass appears in almost every high-visibility terrazzo design.

Alkali-silica reaction is the real technical question+

Some glass in a cementitious matrix can react with alkalis and cause expansion and cracking. Producers manage it through binder design, supplementary cementitious materials and validated glass sources, and it is one reason resin terrazzo is often chosen for glass-heavy designs.

Crushed versus tumbled+

Crushed glass gives sharp, faceted reflection but harsher handling; tumbled glass is safer to work with and reads softer in the finished surface. The choice is an appearance decision that also affects labour on site.

Specification options+

Working properties are configurable options within this canonical product, not separate products. Depending on the family, that can include grade, viscosity, mix ratio, pot life and demould time, hardness, colour, particle size or fibre length, and pack format. No configuration is presented as stocked or approved until it is confirmed against the supplier's technical data for the exact material offered. Supplier grade names, factory codes and manufacturer brands are not published here.

Frequently asked questions

Is glass aggregate safe in cementitious terrazzo?+

It can be, with an appropriate binder system and validated glass source. The reactivity question is addressed at mix design stage rather than assumed away.

Are colour samples available?+

Yes. Appearance is approved from samples of the material actually offered, not from a description.

Are technical documents provided before ordering?+

Yes. The supplier technical data sheet and safety data sheet for the exact grade offered are provided with the quotation, and the working properties in those documents govern — not any general description on this page.

What quantities are quoted?+

Quantities are reviewed per enquiry, from trial quantities through to pallet and full container programmes for production users and distributors.
