Internal versus external lubrication+
An external lubricant sits at the interface between melt and metal: it delays fusion, controls friction against the screw and die, and governs surface finish. An internal lubricant is compatible with the PVC and lowers melt viscosity and shear heat. The two effects are usually needed together, in a ratio specific to the machine and the compound, which is why lubricants are quoted as a system rather than as a single additive.
Plate-out is a formulation symptom+
Plate-out — the deposit that builds on the die and calibrator — is typically a sign that the lubricant package, the stabilizer and the filler are not compatible at the loading used. It is corrected by rebalancing the package, not by cleaning more often. Describe the deposit, the process and the current formulation in your enquiry so the supplier can review the balance.
How specifications are confirmed+
