What a PVC stabilizer does+
PVC begins to dehydrochlorinate at processing temperature. A stabilizer scavenges the released hydrogen chloride and interrupts the degradation chain, which is what preserves colour and mechanical properties through the extruder. Because the demand on the stabilizer depends on residence time, screw design and the rest of the formulation, a stabilizer is quoted against the compound and the machine, not against a generic loading figure.
Calcium-zinc and the regulatory position+
Calcium-zinc systems are specified where lead and cadmium stabilizer chemistry is not acceptable. Allzone supplies lead-free calcium-zinc systems; the applicable declaration is provided with the quotation rather than asserted here.
