Bright metal at low density+
Aluminium is much lighter than bronze or copper for the same coverage, so it suits large panels and hanging pieces where installed weight is the constraint. It also stays bright rather than warming in tone, which matters when the design calls for silver.
Reactivity is the specification, not a footnote+
Fine aluminium powder is dust-explosive and reacts with water and alkaline systems, releasing hydrogen. It is not a general concrete pigment, and any cementitious use has to be assessed deliberately against the supplier's safety data.
The powder must be at the surface+
Metal powder loaded through the whole casting is wasted, because only the outer skin is ever seen. Standard practice is a heavily loaded face coat brushed into the mould, backed with unfilled or filled resin, then polished or patinated after demould.
Dust, reactivity and handling+
Fine metal powders present dust and reactivity hazards that differ by metal, and some corrode or patinate on contact with moisture or process chemicals. Handling, storage and finishing chemistry are planned against the supplier's safety data sheet for the exact powder supplied.

Can aluminium powder be added to concrete for colour?+
No. It reacts in alkaline cementitious systems and generates gas; aluminium in concrete is a deliberate aeration technology, not a colour decision.
Which resin system suits cold casting?+
Polyurethane, epoxy and polyester systems are all used. The choice depends on demould speed, detail and the finishing method, and is decided per product.
