Technical & procurement detail
Functional role of polydextrose+
Polydextrose is a randomly bonded glucose polymer that provides bulk and humectancy at a low caloric contribution. It replaces the physical volume, body and water-binding that sugar provides when sugar is removed, which is why it appears in most reduced-sugar reformulations.
Bulking is the primary job+
When sugar is removed, sweetness can be restored with a high-intensity sweetener, but the missing solids cannot. Polydextrose is specified to restore that mass, control water activity and keep texture close to the original product.
Plan the reformulation as a system+
Replacing sugar changes freezing point, browning, water activity and shelf life at the same time. Describe which of those matter most in your product so the supplier can advise on grade selection and typical addition levels for your category.
Documentation and specification+
Functional values differ between producers and grades. Allzone confirms the applicable grade with the supplier before quoting and shares the technical data sheet and safety data sheet for the exact material offered, so the values you evaluate are the values you receive.
Frequently asked questions
Does polydextrose count as dietary fibre?+
Fibre declaration depends on the applicable regulation and the supplier's documented analysis for the grade quoted, which is provided for your review.
Can it fully replace sugar?+
It replaces bulk, not sweetness. Most reformulations pair it with a sweetener system.
What packaging is available?+
Packaging is confirmed with the supplier at quotation for the grade and quantity discussed.
Can I request a technical data sheet?+
Yes — the supplier technical data sheet and safety data sheet are shared for the exact grade quoted.
Can you deliver to Ontario and Quebec food plants?+
Yes. LTL and FTL freight is arranged across Ontario, Quebec and Western Canada, with container-direct supply for repeat volumes.
