Where granular ferric hydroxide media is used+

GFH is a granular iron-based adsorbent loaded into fixed-bed adsorption vessels. Contaminants are bound onto the iron hydroxide surface as water passes through the bed, so performance depends on the surface area of the grade, the empty-bed contact time and the water chemistry — not on the media alone. It is applied in drinking-water, groundwater, industrial process water and wastewater polishing duties.

Performance is grade-dependent, not universal+

Not every GFH grade removes every contaminant. Arsenic, phosphate, silica and heavy-metal duties each require confirmation of adsorption capacity, competing-ion effects and the operating pH range for the specific grade offered. Media life, breakthrough behaviour, regeneration options and spent-media disposal requirements must also be reviewed for the site before selection.
