Tulsi Leaf Powder — Food Grade

Tulsi Leaf Powder is the dried, milled leaf of Ocimum tenuiflorum, also known as Ocimum sanctum or holy basil. It contains whole-leaf material rather than a concentrated extract. Drying, milling and any decontamination treatment are confirmed for the material quoted. Tea packers, blenders and formulators can specify it where milled leaf is required in the finished blend.

A milled leaf powder and a leaf extract are different commercial materials with different dosing, different documentation and different price logic. The material described here is the dried milled leaf. If your formulation calls for an extraction ratio, a solvent basis or a marker assay, state that requirement so the enquiry is handled as a tulsi extract enquiry instead.

Cut size and mesh govern infusion rate, dust and fines carry-over, tea-bag filling behaviour and flow in a capsule or blending line. Stem and stalk content changes colour, aroma intensity and bulk density. State the mesh window, the acceptable stem content and the filling or blending equipment you run so the offered grade is matched to the process rather than to an appearance.

Leaf drying method, drying temperature, storage and crop season change the residual aroma, the green colour and the sensory profile far more than the product name suggests. For continuous production, define the colour and sensory range you accept as specification items and treat a significant shift as a specification question rather than a delivery complaint.

Agree acceptance limits for moisture, foreign matter, ash, microbial counts and relevant contaminants, together with any required decontamination process. Include sensory criteria where they matter to the formulation. Supplier documentation and incoming checks should use the same agreed specification and test methods.
