Air Entraining Admixture — Freeze-Thaw Durability
Allzone Trading supplies air entraining admixture materials to precast producers, hardscape manufacturers, admixture blenders and decorative concrete plants across Canada. In a freeze-thaw climate, entrained air is not an optional performance extra — it is what keeps exterior units from spalling after a few winters. Air content behaviour, compatibility and dosage response are confirmed against supplier technical data and plant trial.

Technical & procurement detail
Why Canadian exterior units fail without it+
Water in the pore structure expands as it freezes. Entrained microscopic bubbles give that water somewhere to go, and without them the surface scales off progressively. It is the single most common cause of premature failure on exterior decorative units.
Air content is not stable by itself+
Mixing time, temperature, sand grading, fly ash carbon content and other admixtures all shift the air content achieved from the same dose. Plants that control durability measure air on the fresh mix rather than trusting the dosage sheet.
The strength trade-off+
Every percentage point of air costs compressive strength, so the target is a range, not a maximum. Over-entrained mixes fail strength tests as reliably as under-entrained mixes fail winters.
Specification options+
Working properties are configurable options within this canonical product, not separate products. Depending on the family, that can include grade, viscosity, mix ratio, pot life and demould time, hardness, colour, particle size or fibre length, and pack format. No configuration is presented as stocked or approved until it is confirmed against the supplier's technical data for the exact material offered. Supplier grade names, factory codes and manufacturer brands are not published here.

Frequently asked questions
What air content should be targeted?+
Target air depends on the exposure class and aggregate size in the governing specification, and is verified on the fresh mix at the plant.
Do air entrainers interact with superplasticizers?+
Yes, frequently. Compatibility is confirmed by trial with the actual admixture combination used.
Are technical documents provided before ordering?+
Yes. The supplier technical data sheet and safety data sheet for the exact grade offered are provided with the quotation, and the working properties in those documents govern — not any general description on this page.
What quantities are quoted?+
Quantities are reviewed per enquiry, from trial quantities through to pallet and full container programmes for production users and distributors.
